Wrong way 'round

Ash and I took our moto's through farmland north of Canberra on Saturday afternoon, over great stretches of gravel.  Our route is shown below.  The most significant gravel section is between Cavan and the Murrumbidge River crossing.

Interestingly, farmers frequently deter drivers from crossing their land by posting "private property - keep out" and "no through road" signs.  However their gates are wide open because they recognise that an easement on their property is active.  We used easements to cross farmland to Cavan en route to Wee Jasper.  We made it through despite signage giving contradictory advice.  From Cavan, we utilized a more conventional route to return to Canberra.

Yup, no signs, times, gates, or snakes were going to stop us! At least now we know...

Yes, I forgot to mention the black snakes that slithered across the road just off the Barton Hwy!

Looks like a good ride bar the snakes! Lucky no farmer sitting with a shot gun on your travels.

Drove up the mountains the other day good couple day ride there through Gunning, Crookwell, Taralga and down to Oberon then across to Bathurst or Lithgow, though watch for Echidnas! Some good country pubs along the way

Jenny and I took that road en route to Batemans Bay from Bathurst one weekend and it is a quiet, picturesque stretch. It can get cold and blowy are up there around Oberon though.

Btw, where did you stop in for a beer along the way Mixy?

Didn't but heard good things 'bout Taralga and Hampton, isn't any little pub along the way a good pub?

Sage advice, Mixy. You're still in Cowra?
