Cassie Sands

Casurina Sands makes a great retreat from the summer heat and its easy to reach on the motorbike.

The river swells out here into a large pool because of the weir.

Here's a peaceful shot that doesn't include the raucous bunch of blokes out in the middle of the river wrestling.

Earlier in the lab, this stirrer bar was going wild.

Water World Monc Party

The great Monc street party was themed "office".

Bespectacled Rini dressed very professionally.

Egg, what a tie! Your dress sense is superb.

Who let the car salesmen in?

There were some very serious warm-ups to house shots out on the balcony.

And then there was the main event.

With the police sent on their way, the guys were really letting their hair down.

Top red bear set-up, Trace.

Boating on Lake Burley Griffin

What an awesome cheap import! Not me, the boat - just $15 was sufficient to supply this inflatable boat from KMart. The wet weather put Egg and I off our trip to the coast, but I was eager to try out me boat, so we rode down to Lake Burley Griffin wit it.

The inflation step was arduous, but I was soon launching in to the lake. It was certainly no speed machine, but it was very relaxing to bob around in the lake.

I was having a stub' out on the lake in this shot and could have easily handled a few more out there.

The swans and their rather large cygnets were slightly more graceful in the water than I.

I'm little more than a speck here as I paddled my way over to Elene's museum on the other side of the lake. At my cracking pace, it takes about 45 min to traverse the lake.

Richmond Beach, Murrumarang

A massive gum blocked our path along the dirt track to Richmond beach that we were following in the Saab on Saturday morning. Jenny led to way over the obstacle.

We snorkelled and lounged about at the beach while it was sunny and then headed home after the obligatory fish'n'chips when the rains arrived.

Computer Science Students' Society

Mooseheads was pouring free ones for members of the CSSS and their guests on Friday so the GRDC lads joined Jen and I for a few brews and a chance to mix with the computer society. Mix' also inched his way to the lifetime goal of 1 million different photographs of him holding a beer.

Motorcycle touring on the South Coast

The Gutters in Shellharbour hosted our gladiatorial episodes.

Guerilla Bay didn't yield a banquet but made for a refreshing swim after a sweltering ride.

We posed again at Durack after covering 850+ km in a little over a day and marked the end of an awesome touring adventure.

What's on, Esme?

My old mate from the Summer Scholarship 2004/5, Eric (Esme) visted us from Adelaide a couple of weeks back. A trip to the Moose was obligatory.

Floriade 2007

Floriade was bright and colourful again this year. Jen and I visited the display at the end of September. Did you know that this tulip has ruffled petals because it is infected with a virus? Did you know that tulips and reproduce sexually by producing seeds (like people) or asexually through bulbs (like Campsie)?

Oh yes, there were flowers!

And here are two swans with their... cygnets.

The Wiz

O'Neil's was sporting its own evil Wiz-kid a while back - thanks for the photo, Tracey (and thanks to photographer 'Lenski).

Also, happy birthday again!

Out on the bikes

The Echidna that lives on the main street of Hall.

Steve is posed in the picturesque country-side on the way to Wee Jasper.

We had a ride a long way down from the signs warning of strong waves and submerged fences and trees to find a little of what is left of Burrunjuck Dam.

Luderick and the white groper

On Saturday afternoon, and then again on Sunday after the big party, Roberts and I did some swimming and spearfishing from the rocks at the southern end of Coogee beach.

The photograph below was taken on my moments after the previous previous one. The waves made our entry and exit a little challenging.

My scout went for a slide along the barnacles on Saturday but still backed up for another dip on Sunday with a huge party in between. We didn't catch any of the school of luderick that Roberts located. I felt like I was chasing a flock of ducks around an oval or something - so we bought fish instead. (At "A Fish Called Coogee")

Roberts' 26th Birthday Party

Happy 26th birthday, Roberts!

The lads are getting their value (all $750k) out of legendary Todman Ave. I picked up a flyer but a PhD stipend won't quite stretch to cover the costs.

JB's at the bottom of this dog-pile.

John Williamson is on?

Here is a short vid' from the evening.

Thanks a lot guys, Jenny and I had a blast up in Sydney on the weekend!

Nightmare - The Interactive Video Board Game

The Gatekeeper was bossing his "maggots" around, as usual.

Two jugs per game (1 h) is about right.

Mix, being another old hand at the game, timed his victory to fall in the last minute of both games.

This is a shot from our second round of Nightmare, hosted by Anne de Chaintraine, the witch.

Rothbury Vineyard in Cowra

We stopped in at the Rothbury Vineyard in Cowra on our journey home on Sunday. Jan and Les guided our tour through the vineyard that now doubles as sheep-grazing land. You can see that bud-burst is now well-advanced. So, bright sunshine interspersed with a bit of rain will be ideal but please... No frosts!

Here is Jenny in front of the timid flock.

Fun Run for Charity at Bathurst

It is a thankfully short trip from Orange to Bathurst. Jenny and I hung out with Marko and feasted, had a few brews and partook in a relaxing sauna and spa at the recently refurbished Bathurst aquatic centre.

Geometry Wars (for XBox360) had me mesmerized. I would kind of like a 360 now...
